Moving to your own apartment is a big step. It is also a step that includes lots and lots of thinking, planning and organizing. No matter how hard we try to take into consideration every single thing we’re going to need in our new home, there’s always something that doesn’t cross our mind. Exactly this is the reason we created this list of absolute necessities for your first crib. Take a look because you don’t want to find yourself missing any of these items in the middle of the night!

1. Bedroom

After a long day of packing and moving (or a few days of the same!) you’ll be glad to have a place to put your head down for a rest. The first and let’s face it, the most important piece of furniture for every bedroom is, of course, a comfy bed. This is clear – we wouldn’t forget this. But what about bedding? You’ll definitely need a few soft pillows and pillowcases, nice bed sheets, a duvet and a blanket. A nightstand with a lamp and your favorite books wouldn’t be a bad idea. Remember to install blinds on your windows and maybe add a stylish touch by hanging classy draperies. Another important piece of furniture that usually belongs to the bedroom is a closet. Choose one that will fit perfectly into your space and that will match your style.

2. Bathroom

There are some essential things that we need for our new bathroom as well. Let’s start with the towels. While you’re shopping for bedspreads and bed linens, make sure to check out the towel section, too. Choose suitable towels for different purposes, like hand and bath towels. Don’t forget to buy toiletries such as shampoo, hair mask, shower gel, body scrubs, etc. – and perhaps a storage container or a shelf for keeping these neat. Another basic necessity – a shower curtain – now you have the freedom to choose any shower curtain that you like! And there are so many choices out there. And finally, you’ll need toilet paper, a toilet plunger, a scrubber and a trash can. Don’t forget a hamper, laundry detergent and fabric softener as well. And voila – your bathroom is fully equipped!

3. Living room

The living room is the center of your apartment and that’s why you need to make sure that it is both comfortable and functional. You’ll definitely start from a couch or a sofa set. This will be most useful if you’re planning to host get-togethers or movie nights! And what does every couch or sofa have in front of them? If you guessed a coffee table – you guessed correctly! A comfy couch and a coffee table make a great combo with a flat-screen TV. Hire antenna installation professionals and you’re all set! You can lay back on your couch, sip your hot coffee in peace (or cold beer) and watch some great HD television!

4. Kitchen

Finally, the room where we always forget to put something on the list – the kitchen. First, you’ll need a place to sit and enjoy your meals. You can equip your kitchen with a classic set of a table and chairs or you can choose a more popular, modern option, a bar with bar stools. The next thing you need are dishes: plates, platers, bowls, glasses, mugs, pots and pans; and cutlery such as knives, spoons and forks. Kitchen utensils such as measuring cups, whisks, spatulas, ladles go together with dishes and cutlery. In addition, you can install some small kitchen appliances you find handy, such as a coffee machine, a blender, a hand mixer, a toaster, a microwave oven and many others.

5. Home decor

The basic necessities are not enough for us. That’s why we can upgrade our home to make it even more to our liking by decorating it and adding some final touches. You can upgrade your bedroom by hanging some wall art and a full-length mirror or by setting up a vanity desk. As far as the bathroom is concerned, you can add some scented candles and potpourri. You can make your living room even more attractive by installing some extra LED lighting. You can also decorate it with some exotic houseplants. As for the kitchen, maybe a flower vase and an inspirational poster would make this room even more appealing. You can add some spice to it by hanging some super cool oven mitts and dishrags and covering the table with eye-catching tablecloths.

If you thought everything through, take that checklist you made and hit the road! Think both practical and pretty. Take your time when choosing the things for your first apartment because you’ll be living there every day and it is of key importance to feel well in your own home. Don’t settle for something you don’t really like or want. If you’re not satisfied with the choice you are presented with, move on to the next store.
