Waikiki is a popular destination for business travelers. However, many people who find themselves in Hawaii for work become tempted by paradise that’s right outside their office window. It’s still possible to enjoy everything the island has to offer with your family in between meetings. Here’s a list of the must-see attractions and beaches the next time you visit Waikiki.

Kakaako

When sight-seeing, you must pass through the district of Kakaako where internationally known street artists have colored the neighborhood with cutting-edge artwork. You’ll also find modern restaurants, unique shopping, and entertainment. Every February, artists create new murals over the older ones.

USS Arizona Memorial Park

The USS Arizona Memorial Park at Pearl Harbor is a national historic landmark and museum showcasing artifacts from WWII. You can watch a film in the theater with your family to educate them on what led up to the attack. Kids love taking the ferry ride to check out the memorial site built over what’s left of the USS Arizona so book your Pearl Harbor tickets now.

Hike At Diamond Head

Diamond Head is a dormant volcano that locals and tourists love to hike. The hike lasts up to two hours and is moderately easy to climb. Diamond Head provides stunning sunset views and the rest of Oahu. There are bunkers and a lighthouse situated along the rim of the crater.

Laniakea Beach

For more free family fun, check out the sea turtles at Laniakea Beach. The turtles love to swim up to the shore to feed on seaweed and sunbathe in the afternoon. Many tour buses will stop here before making their way to other attractions.

Waimea Bay

West from Haleiwa Town is Waimea Bay, where the best of the best surfers come out to ride the waves. The notorious Eddie surf contest is held there and only runs when the waves reach 30 feet. It has impressive rock jumping, rock climbing, snorkeling, underwater tunnels, and prime sunsets.

Kapiolani Park

In the middle of the city, you can find tranquility with your family at Kapiolani Park. Located on the Diamond Head side of Waikiki, pack and picnic lunch and enjoy the peace and quiet. Within close distance of this 300-acre park, you’ll find Waikiki beach activities, the Honolulu Zoo, and the Waikiki Aquarium.

Kaena Point

If you’re looking for a Hawaiian adventure, hike to the tip of Oahu at Kaena Point. It’s a protected nature reserve that can only be accessed by foot. Hiking is relatively easy along the coastline. You’ll likely spot a Laysan albatross or a sunbathing monk seal inside the sanctuary. It’s important to note that it’s not only dangerous but against the law to interact with them.
